Harumph is a polished gem of Americana and jazz extracted from a time machine, featuring the smoky vocals of Olympia, WA native Kate Dinsmore and punctuated by a 4 piece rhythm section and melodic trumpet. Dinsmore moved to Oklahoma in 2008 where she connected with David Leach (composer/piano) and began collaborating together, forming Harumph. Leach performs regularly with national touring artists Travis Linville, Samantha Crain, and has also appeared on the David Letterman Show with John Fullbright.
Seeing them in person, you’d almost expect your eyes to shift the picture to black and white. All original and gaining steam, the band released its self-titled EP in 2015 recorded by Red Dirt Legend Travis Linville and began touring the country. After an active year of performances Harumph visited 115 Recording in Norman, OK and recorded their debut full-length album, "Threes", with producer Wes Sharon (Parker Millsap, Turnpike Troupadors, Fullbright) and Grammy-nominated artist John Fullbright – release Feb 24, 2017.
“Leach unearths a song’s skeleton from his mind, its roots and its lyrics, and the band gives it life, adding colors from their own musical palette. Mix everything together, and you get Harumph. “Threes” is a testament to the group’s experimentation. A bit of nature, a lot of nurture, and a great sound that’s all Oklahoma.” - N-Town
